Valentines Day…It’s the holiday that people love to hate or hate to love…depending on what’s happening in your life when February 14th rolls around.

I’ve been listening to a lot of music on the road lately from a lot of different artists, trying to find some inspiration for this blog.  There are so many great artists out there with so many amazing songs! And some of the best are from artists that you may never hear on the radio or Grey’s Anatomy (the ultimate love song TV show).

I love to listen, really, really listen to the words of a great songwriter melt into an unforgettable melody.  There are so many ways to say I love you…I need you…how lucky I am that I have you.  And there are equally as many countless paths one can take to say my heart is broken…I’m sorry…I’m lonely.  I find that the simplest phrase sung with reverence can throw me right into the depths of that singer’s soul and I can feel every single word they are singing. Know what I mean?

Some might think that because we, as humans have opposable thumbs that we are superior to other animal species.  Well, first let me make it perfectly clear that the longer I live, the less I believe we are superior to any other living thing.  There are plenty of other thumbed creatures in this world and they don’t think themselves better than those without thumbs.  But thumbs…let’s face it, make life a hell of a lot easier!

There is nothing magical about the clock chiming midnight on January 1st year after year.  But to us…. the human race, it feeds our yearning for a chance to try again, a chance to re-write the wrongs of the previous year, another chance to try and get things right. The New Year is a time to start over, with the sun setting on our gloom and our failures of the past year, and hopefully rising in a clear, cloudless sky.  It is a chance for us all to climb back up to the top of that mountain  and proclaim to the world…. "This is the year I will get it right!"
