Century Music Group signs Steff Mahan
Century Music Group (CMG) is pleased to announce the signing of singer-songwriter, Steff Mahan.
Mahan admits that shes sees herself as a songwriter first and an artist second. “When I came to Nashville, I wanted to write hit songs for major artists,” says Mahan. “Performing live and releasing records was just my way of getting my songs heard.”
And heard, they were! Mahan’s entertaining and often introspective Americana mix of rock, roots, folk and country has generated three albums, two Nashville publishing deals and several international songwriting awards.
Yet there is something about Mahan on stage singing her own songs that is both captivating and exhilarating, inspiring Billboard Magazine to proclaim her “An entertaining, can’t miss performance.”
As an artist, Mahan performs approximately 200 dates a year across the country from large venues to small intimate house concerts. And it is Mahan’s successful independent career that piqued the interest of CMG co-founders, Art Ward and Jamie Tate.
Ward and Tate felt Mahan was a must-have when considering who they would sign to their new record label. “Signing Steff was a no-brainer. She is the real deal,” says Ward. “She is the perfect blend of experience and talent that we were looking for as our anchor artist for CMG. Her dedicated and supportive fan base speaks volumes about who she is as an artist and person.”
CMG is looking to steer Mahan’s career in a direction that brings out more of the artist in her. “Steff has been so in-grained in the Nashville songwriter way of thinking, where she has written for other people in mind and performed songs live and on her recordings that were more like a display of her writing talent. We want to encourage Steff to write more for herself and let her audiences experience even more of who Steff Mahan is than ever before,” says Ward.
“I feel like I have found the right fit with CMG,” says Mahan. “I am really excited to get in the studio with these guys, challenge myself as an artist and bring something to my fans that is different, fresh and makes their ears tingle.”
Look for Steff Mahan’s fourth and most anticipated release due mid-2013.
